Abstract
Objective. To improve treatment effectiveness in patients with interstitial lung disease (ILD) by including physical pulmonary rehabilitation programmes in the complex therapy.
Materials and methods. We divided 45 ILD patients hospitalized to the Central TB Research Institute into two groups – the main group and the comparison group. The patients of the main group were administered drug therapy together with rehabilitation exercises. All the patients underwent a complex of clinical and functional examinations, assessments of life quality and depression level before and 14 days after treatment initiation.
Results. The patients who received individual physical pulmonary rehabilitation programmes demonstrated statistically significant increase in SpO2 and DLCOc-SB, a longer distance of the 6-min walk test (6 MWT), and better psycho-emotional state.
Conclusion. The article provides the rationale for the inclusion of rehabilitation programmes in the treatment of ILD patients.
