Abstract
Diabetic polyneuropathy (DPN) is one of the most severe complications of diabetes mellitus (DM) and is characterized by a high frequency. So, after 5 years from the onset of the disease, it is detected in 12.5-14.5% of patients, after 10 years - in 20-25% and after 25 years - in 55-65% of patients with DM. The nervous system is extremely vulnerable to hyperglycemia, which plays a key role in the dysfunction of its various departments in DM. The preservation of normoglycemia is the main direction in the prevention of DPN. Achievement and long-term maintenance of the target values of glycemia prevents or significantly reduces the risk of development and progression of chronic complications in patients with DM. The lecture presents the features of such types of DPN treatment as symptomatic and pathogenetic.
