Abstract

We present a clinical case of a patient with locally advanced cervical cancer, FIGO stage IIIC1, who received two cycles of intra-arterial neoadjuvant chemotherapy followed by a nerve-sparing radical hysterectomy (D-type). Treatment was carried out in accordance with the clinical testing protocol “Treatment of patients with unresectable stage II–III cervical cancer using neoadjuvant combined chemotherapy with super-selective administration of platinum agents” (protocol index: 2020-36-49). We describe the surgical technique of D-type radical hysterectomy with targeted preservation of the pelvic autonomic nerves. This technic of operation prevents urinary tract functional complications. Case report demonstrate that most bladder function recovery occurs within one month after surgery due to preserve quality of life without compromising oncologic radicality.
Keywords: locally advanced cervical cancer, intra-arterial neoadjuvant chemotherapy, D-type nerve-sparing radical hysterectomy, nerve-sparing surgery, adjuvant chemoradiotherapy.
