Abstract

Gastritis and duodenitis are among the most common diseases in Russia: more than 30 million patients were registered in 2021. The disease is dangerous due to the risk of transition to precancerous conditions, including atrophic gastritis and intestinal metaplasia, which significantly increases the likelihood of developing stomach cancer. A decrease in the prevalence of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) in the population to 40% is a positive trend, but the infection remains the main factor in chronic gastritis. Growing antibiotic resistance and lack of awareness of modern eradication regimens create difficulties in the fight against infection. Early diagnosis and dispensary monitoring are crucial for identifying risk groups and timely relief of pathological changes. Methods such as narrow-band visualization endoscopy and OLGA/OLGIM staging help assess the degree of atrophy and develop cancer prevention strategies.
Keywords: Helicobacter pylori, gastritis, diagnostics, screening tests, fecal antigen, treatment of H. pylori infection, prevention of gastritis complications.
