Abstract
Menopausal transition is a special period of reproductive aging associated with a broad spectrum of endocrine and metabolic alterations contributing to the complete remodeling of the physiological body functioning patterns. Variable alteration of the gonadotropic and steroid hormone levels followed by progressive decrease in estrogen levels is associated with realization of a number of abnormalities, starting from the menstrual cycle variability (in the early transition period) and ending with the menopausal disorder manifestation (in the late period). The review highlights the realities, risk, and prospects associated with the menopausal transition period, as well as personalized prescription strategies and preventive properties of menopausal hormone therapy.
Keywords: menopausal transition, perimenopause, perimenopausal risk, menopausal hormone therapy, estradiol hemihydrate, spray, micronized progesterone.
