Abstract
The topic of treatment at the dental appointment for patients with elevated arterial blood pressure (BP) is rarely covered in the periodical press and is not thoroughly described in the national recommendations. At the same time, the high prevalence of arterial hypertension (AH) leads to constant clinical situations when the patients with elevated BP or the presence of an anamnesis of AH are needed in stomatological management. The proposed clinical example discusses key issues that arise in the management of such patients, including the possibility, time and conditions for dental interventions, necessity of the drug therapy to rapidly reduce BP, using the local anesthesia and control of antihypertensive therapy. The authors emphasize the importance of a joint discussion of such clinical situations by dentists and therapists, taking into account modern knowledge about the therapy of AH, and the methods of treatment the dental diseases.
