Abstract

Autoimmune diseases are not only the preserve of rheumatologists have also become a pressing concern for other medical specialties. According to numerous research groups, there has been a significant increase in the incidence of autoimmune diseases in the population. Dermatologists, in particular, have noted an increasing number of patients with autoimmune skin and mucous membrane lesions. Of particular concern are those who simultaneously exhibit signs of several autoimmune diseases. This category of patients is of particular interest to physicians in various fields, including dermatologists, as the care of such patients presents a specific set of challenges related to diagnosis, treatment, and prevention. The combination of several autoimmune diseases has been termed overlap autoimmune syndromes in the literature. This article presents a brief literature review of overlap autoimmune diseases encountered in dermatological practice. The article presents data on the incidence of autoimmune diseases in the dermatology hospital of the Korolenko Clinic, and describes the most interesting clinical cases of patients with overlapping autoimmune syndromes.
Keywords: autoimmune diseases, comorbidities, overlap syndrome, multiple autoimmune syndrome, vitiligo, psoriasis, lupus erythematosus, laboratory markers.
